Square’s turning up the heat… Now when you walk into a store like Walgreen’s, Staples or Fedex (office locations) you will see the credit card terminal on the store shelves for sale at just $9.95 a dongle. You may ask yourself “Why would I pay for a Square Card Reader?”, well it’s because it’s actually free. There is a $10 rebate inside for “new users”. If you prefer to just go online and make an account you can still do that as well and wait for the card reader in the mail or just head down to the store to pick one up.
Looks like VeriFone is trying to “take on” Square by creating a Credit Card Reader (dongle) for the data enable phones out there. They have created something called a “Sail” that will be used to take credit card payments for merchants.
